Ken Graning, who currently resides on a 10-acre horse farm in Holly, Michigan has spent a lifetime in pursuit of his various art forms. A 30 year career in the fast-paced world of Commercial Illustration has prepared him well for a second career in Fine Art. His body of work that comprises www.catcartoons.com is inspired by the antics of the three cats that share residence with Ken, his wife Judi and the three horses that graze endlessly in the expansive pastures outside Ken's studio.

Kens creative process is derived from traditional drawing techniques which morph into digital images. It goes something like this. Ken gets an idea. The idea becomes a pencil drawing on paper in line only. That drawing is scanned into the computer and imported into Adobe Illustrator, a program for artists that allows that drawing through clever manipulation, to become a color image that is then printed out onto archival paper using light resistant inks to ensure many years of vibrant color.

But wait! There's more. Ken also paints traditional impressionistic landscape paintings in oil and watercolor and he is currently developing a new mixed media collage technique.
