 Save Samoa features rescue stories submitted by everyday people who saw an animal in need and gave the animal a chance at life. The stories shared here often start out tragically; feral cats barely surviving, abuse cases, abandoned and/or injured animals. Animals that surely would not have survived without intervention. There is a common theme to all of these stories, and that is love and compassion, not only from the people who saved these cats, dogs, and other animals, but the love returned from the animals back to the people who showed them what it is like to have a home.

 Save Samoa is more than just a site with stories of happy endings. We know that the only way to truly change the situation that many of these animals were in is through education. Many of the stories are educational in and of themselves. However, the site additionally provides resources for low cost spay and neuter programs, as well as information about the importance of spaying or neutering pets. We present resources for aiding feral cats, managing colonies, for bringing in and socializing feral cats & kittens so that they, too, can be placed into forever homes. Lastly, we also make available rescue resources to assist people in locating rescue organizations in their area for when they want to add a furry family member to their household, or when they find an animal in need and don't know where to turn for help. We hope they will turn to Save Samoa, because we have learned and we pass on the lesson that people can make the difference!

Inspired by efforts from around the country to rescue one cat that was the topic of an editorial in a Texas newspaper in September 2002 and branded as a "terror". This site is designed to share rescue stories and perhaps inspire others to rescue as well. Samoa's rescue story is proudly featured on our home page as an introduction to the difference that individuals can make in the life of an animal.
