What is a Pet Sitter?
A general definition of a pet sitter is someone that comes to your home at a specified time, care for your pet, making sure all their specified needs are meet including food and water, cleaning any messes they make (remember, we are not housekeepers), outdoor time/litterboxes scooped and playtime is a requirement, as long as the pet says it is okay. Also, most pet sitters will bring in your mail, take out your trash can on trash day and light plant watering.

How I describe what I do?
I love my job! How many people can actually say that?!? I don't consider it a job, really. I get to spend time with one of God's little creatures. I walk in and am greeted with love and excitement (most of the time, anyway). They look to me to care for them while their families are gone, so I do my best to make them feel loved and comforted. I feed them, give them fresh water, take them out for potty breaks, scoop litter boxes, then I get to the good stuff, loving and pampering. Every pet has their own personality. You can't just generalize them. There are lappers, lickers, hissers, barkers, purrrs, scarried cats and dogs, lovers and some that seem to miss their families more than most. I care for each one based on their personalities and lifestyle. See, I feel you are intrusting me with your most important possessions, your pet(s) and your home. So, yes, I am a pet sitter, it is my business and my job, but the pets are my passion. They look to us for love and want nothing more than that in return. |
